Climate change

In this google drawing, I have drawn a mountain with icicles and ice
melting. Since the climate is changing and becoming more hotter ,
the north and south pole are liquefying making the sea level rise higher.
This becomes a negative impact on small islands as well as islands
that are only metres above the sea. This will mean that there will be
more climate refugees travelling to different countries. Climate refugees
are people who move from their main home because of the differences
happening to the weather, this includes tsunamis, pollution, sand storms
,hurricanes etc. The sea level rising is only one impact caused from
climate change, just imagine how many more changes will happen in
the next few years coming.

A trip to remote Tokelau

Image result for tokelau

Returning back to tokelau , I noticed the changes happening
around the sea as well as what's happening above me. It was
always pouring so I’d spend most of my time lying down looking
at my study books ,wondering how proud my family would be of
me. But then I realised that if it’s bad out at sea then how bad
would it be on land, wondering if my family's ok. I easily get motion
sickness so with all the rocking on the boat, it didn’t help at all .
My favourite part on the trip was when it hit dusk, everyone would
receive a hot cup of Milo and it would always refresh me. As we
got closer to tokelau, I could see the small island from more than
10 yards away. As I observed the full island I look at all the changes
I’d have to adapt to since I was so used to living in a modern world
while I was studying. I noticed all the sea walls against houses and
palm trees as well as a crowd of people waving at us with joy. When
I got off the boat, I knew I was finally home.

Life In Tokelau - Perspectives

Life in Tokelau are hard for some people but as for Tolise and puka they've
gotten different perspectives in the way they live. Puka knows how to fish,
weaves baskets, build boats and traditional tokelau houses. He believes that if
he doesn't keep the old ways alive then how will people be able to live if they
can’t fish there own food, build boats and even construct houses.
Tolises life relates to what puka believes. When she returned back to tokelau
to take care of her family, her ways of living in New Zealand was way much
more different in tokelau. So she had to adapt to it quickly in able to take care
of her family. From tolise’s perspective she thought it was hard trying
to get into the old ways of how they live in tokelau as well as puka who tried
keeping the old ways alive so people know how to do this and that, so
everyone wouldn’t be in  a crisis of food or having no shelter.

Key concepts - Globalisation

During my lesson in social studies I have been learning
new vocabulary related to my subject about Globalisation.
Two words that I have learnt are sustainability and Migration.
Sustainability means being at a certain rate or level that
is stable . As an example , your on a lever and you need to
be in a certain place to be stable . That certain place
would be the middle of the lever and there you will find
sustainability. The definition of migration means moving
from one place to another . Birds always migrate due to
the weather changing so they’d have to adapt to the new
place, just like humans when we move to different
countries. As a result I have clearly understood the meaning
of these words and hopefully I would be able to use these
words in the correct order in any writing that relates to my topic.

Anzac day

Anzac day

Anzac day to me means honouring and respecting all the soldiers who died in the war as well as those who survived . Supporting them by wearing poppies is just a remembrance for all those men and women who served in WW1 . It’s important to commemorate Anzac day because as I said, it was a day of remembrance for all the people who died in the war and also to show respect .  In New Zealand we honour Anzac day on the 25th of April with a dawn service as it was the time that most of them had landed on gallipoli. We honour Anzac day by wearing poppies and the reason for that is because during the war poppies grew around the area . We also honour it by making Anzac biscuits as well as small donations .
