WALT - write a word problem from a given number sentence then solve the problem .
- Mary saw 341 people at the mall in the morning . Then when she went back to the mall she saw 297 people at the mall . How much people left the mall ?
341- 297 = 44 People left the mall
340 - 290 = 50
50 - 7 = 43 + 1 = 44 people left the mall ✔
- Kate saved up 224 dollars . The one year later she saved up 977 dollars . How much money does she have altogether ?
224 + 977 = 1201 dollars kate has altogether
200 + 900 = 1100
20 + 70 = 90
4 + 7 = 11
1100 + 90 = 1190 + 11 = 1201 dollars kate has altogether ✔
- Billy had 28 marbles . She had to put them separately into 7 boxes . How much marbles will go in each box ?
28 7 = 4 because 4 x 7 = 28
A = 4 marbles in each box ✔
- Mele had 10 boxes filled with 12 papers in each box . How much papers does she have altogether ?
12 x 10 = 120 papers altogether
10 x 10 = 100
2 x 10 = 20
100 + 20 = 120 papers altogether ✔
- Charlotte bough 34 lollies to share between her 2 brothers . So charlotte decided to give them the same amount of lollies . How much lollies will her brothers each get .
½ of 34 = 17 lollies each
½ of 30 = 15
½ of 4 = 2
So then 15 + 2 = 17 lollies each ✔
