Arithmetic

Screenshot 2016-03-01 at 9.35.14 AM.png
Today in Room 7,  I have been playing a multiplication and subtraction game . It was pretty hard when I got problems like 65 x 46 or 104 x 5 and so on . To be honest I thought this game wasn’t that interesting even though I never knew how to solve most of them , but I managed to solve some of it . I really want to have a better score next time I play it.

If you would like to play this game and try beat my score click on this link below .

In this math activity I have been adding and subtracting decimals. It was easy and challenging sometime as I have to use the given numbers to find find the missing numbers. I did like the game though because it was helping me to achieve my goal which is to learn or be faster at adding and subtracting decimals . Although it was hard I still manage to complete it all.  Next time I will play this game I will try to complete it faster.

GI Zoo prices

Please solve the following problems . Show your working so that we can understand your thinking.

GI Zoo Prices
        Adult:              $14
                                          Child under 12 : #

  1. It cost the Naidoo family of 2 adults and 3 children $61 to go to the zoo. What is the missing price on the board?

$28 + 11 = $61
14 + 14 = 28
61 - 28 = 33
33 divided by 3 = 11
So it costs 11 dollars each for a one child .

  1. For 4 days of the week the zoo has a concession for schools. $10 each for the first 100 children and then $12 each for the others. What would a school pay if there are 127 children?
10 x 100 = 1000
12 x 27 = 324 So than 1000 + 324 = $1324 to pay for 147 children

  1. On a Friday evening  the zoo has a special rate for  school children:for every paid 7 children 2 get to go in free.  What would it cost a school with  147 children?

147 divided by 9 = 16R3
16 x 7 = 112
112 x 11 = 1232
1232 + 33 = 1,265

ALL about me

Kuraia 17.02.2016

Kia Orana everyone my name is Kuraia and I am a full cook islander . I have 2 brothers and two sisters and the only  disturbing thing about my brothers is they are extremely annoying  . I like my mum more than my dad because he tells me what to do every single day or week . I am a very talented dancer and dancing is probably the only thing I am good at . I hate most of my veggies even though they’re good for me I still disagree about eating it . I love to do swimming most of the time and I don’t really like cooking but I need to learn. I do like coming to school for my friends and because my favourite subject is maths I always hope we can do Maths all day . I love playing hand ball because it is very fun . When I grow up I want to be a famous dancer or choreographer but if I don’t succeed then I think I would be a teacher.

During the 2nd week of school I have been testing myself on solving maths problems using order of operations. It was quite hard at the beginning  but I kept practising  few times and 10 was my best score.  I know if I know my times tables off by heart and kept practising I will just get better and better.   I bet in a few weeks time I can score 15 or more.

In this game I have been playing a fraction game to help me with my fractions . It was very very hard although I am supposed to be smart by now but actually I am a bt kuku . But anyways I came last and there is nothing I can do about it but unless I tried my best on answering a few of the fractions . In this game I learnt that when you add fractions you go the answer in your head but the answer is not there so you need to multiply , divide , or subtract the number in the fraction to find your answer .
